CAS Colours & Sketches #169

Hey!

It's Thursday AGAIN (these weeks are flying by), which means it is time for another challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week HERE out hostess Louise has a fun sketch for you to try...

I was looking at the different sized circles on the sketch first of all to determine which stamp sets to use. I nearly opted for the recently released Fun Flowers, but ended up using the flowers from Flower Power #3 and I LOVE Coffee...

I had recently purchased some SU! It's My Party Washi Tape, so my colours were determined by the ones I chose to use on my card for the rectangles.

This week everything has been back on schedule for the beans after the Easter break, which means we have been back to playgroup. One day back and I come down with ANOTHER cold after 2 weeks clear :( I'm hoping that my bean free afternoon of rest and a little creative therapy will make me feel better!

Anyway, enough of my woes, be sure to stop by the CAS Colours & Sketches blog HERE to see how the rest of the design team have used the sketch. I look forward to seeing you in the gallery :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Geometric Generation

Hey!

It's all a bit CrAzY here at the Brown household this week! It's all go to get jobs done around the house before the 'lil beans arrive. Today and yesterday we have trades men in who are fitting new windows and French doors. So along with it being noisy it is dusty and the house is upside-down! It'll all be done by the end of today and then I have a mammoth cleaning job ahead of me the rest of the week.

Luckily (I might rephrase that later!) this morning I am back at the hospital for another scan, so I am away from the chaos for 3 hours at least!

Yesterday evening after a little tidy up in the kitchen & while hubby was out playing football I decided to relax in the studio for an hour and made this card...

It didn't take the whole hour up, so I spent some time organising and part prepping hubby's cousins Wedding Invitation production line! His cousin gets married in September and I am on a tight schedule to get them completed in case the 'lil beans arrive sooner than expected.

Anyway, I was inspired by this weeks A Cure For The Monday Blues HERE on Taheerah's blog and the inspiration pic seen below. I was also partly inspired by this weeks Guest Designer for the challenge Leigh Penner's card created for the challenge.

It was nice to dust off a couple of older sets that haven't seen much ink for a while too, Background Builders: Round In Circles & Wonderful Washi. I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out :)

I had better get moving and go pick up my MIL who kindly comes along to the hospital with me for company :) We've some knitting to do today whilst we wait, I will share a fe things I've made over the next week or so.

I'll be back tomorrow with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Moments...

Not only do days pass so quickly but moments too and the sentiment on the card I have to share today is too true...

A bit late to join in on the current CAS(E) this Sketch challenge seen HERE and below but it was a great sketch! I am however, joining in on the return to using vellum & using patterned paper trend!

I rarely use either vellum or patterned paper on my creations & usually find both really hard to incorporate. However, this evening this card came together really easily & relatively quickly! Below is a close up of the card detail...

I used the 'blank' Washi stamp from Wonderful Washi Christmas to create the patterned Washi ribbons, stamping them onto Teresa Collins Carolina Breeze DP & cutting them out. I used the same DP to die cut a layered BRIGHT Butterfly. All other supplies are listed below the post.

NOW, you are going to WANT to stop, hop, pop by the blog tomorrow as the April 2013 Release PARTY is starting tomorrow! YAY!! The Design Team & I have shook things up a little this month and your not going to want to miss out on a FABulous Release!!

Hope to see you tomorrow 9am GMT! Until then, thanks for stopping by.

Not A Card In Sight!

Hey!

I'm back today to share a project that isn't a card! *gasp* This project is still CAS and didn't take long to make and was rather fun...

I've never been a big fan of altered art because of the 'distressed' style you tend see projects using, but I fancied setting myself a challenge to decorate a kraft bag in a CAS way & I think I achieved this quite well.

To create the bag I used a variety of Uniko Studio stamps. I started off with the polka dot Washi stamp from Wonderful Washi, stamping it in white pigment ink. I then used the blank Washi stamp from Wonderful Washi Christmas onto a piece of patterned paper from the Joyful Butterfly Digital Downloadable Collection & fussy cut it out. I then added a strip of twill ribbon to finish the stripes across the bag off.

The label embellishment was created using a circular label stamp from Label Love: Thank you and a sentiment from Label Love: Birthday. This was then punched out & layered on various die cuts & mounted with foam adhesive onto the bag.

For the butterfly embellishments I firstly die cut each of the butterflies in the same patterned paper I used for the Washi ribbon. I then die cut the butterflies from white card stock and stamped them with the coordinating stamp & secured them together just down the middle of the butterfly. A few rhinestones dotted about & I was done.

A lovely Spring gift bag to pop a few mini Easter eggs inside! This was another project that we created at the class today at The Paperlane. The next class in April is booking up fast so if you want to join in on the fun & try the April Release clear stamps before you buy  contact Caz to secure your place (admin@thepaperlane.co.uk).

Thats all from me today, thanks for stopping by.
