Friday FUN!

Hey!

YAY for Friday! It's almost the weekend :) I'm off out with the girls tomorrow for a retail therapy outing to the City of York, it's a lovely Yorkshire city with quaint shops and a beautiful cathedral, well worth the visit if you are ever up in the North of England!

Anyway, I found some time to have some inky fun and play along with a couple of challenges to create this card...

I feel like I am getting back into the swing of things here in the studio and my creativity is returning too. I used the new CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below. I love the clean lines of this sketch.

I also used the current ColourQ colours seen HERE and below.

And as I've used doilies AGAIN, I'm entering it into the Crazy For CAS challenge HERE.

Today is operation tidy the studio, as I've been an untidy person & have lots laying around all unorganised! I need a good sort out too and I have already started listing a few items for sale on my eBay page HERE

Ok, I'll be back tomorrow with The Saturday Show, as it's been a while and I have some super Fun cards I've spotted around blog land & been emailed to share with you. Until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Throwback Thursday!

Hey!

So much for my regular Throwback Thursday's, I seem to have missed quite a few! Oh well, I hope you will forgive me? I'm back today with a new Throwback Thursday card, which is based on this card seen HERE from way way back in 2012!

And this is my NEW version...

There are a few reasons I chose this card to revisit, firstly the doilies. After many a request Decorative Doilies - The Hands Of Time is now back in stock on the website along with a couple of other sets. Secondly I really like the colour combo and Rock 'N' Roll technique I used to stamp the doilies and thirdly because the current challenge over at Crazy for CAS HERE is doilies!

For the Rock 'N" Roll stamping technique you want a spectrum of two or three ink colours. They don't have to be in the same colour family for it to work it can be any colours you wish. I chose Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise & Stampin' Up! Pumpkin Pie as I like these paired together.

First of all you want to place your stamp on a block that is just big enough, so that there isn't too much block overhang. Then you start my inking your stamp with the lightest colour you've chosen, in my case the Summer Sunrise. The reason for this is simply because there will be less colour contamination going from light to dark rather than the other way round.

Then you roll the edges of the stamp in the second colour, changing the angle of the rolling determines how much of the stamp edges are inked. As you can see mine are quite subtle and had my stamp at a fairly high angle.

You can watch THIS video here which explains the technique.

In other news I am super pleased and excited to have been selected for the TIME OUT Challenge blog Design Team. The challenges start in March and all the details can be found HERE on the TO Challenge Blog.

Ok, I think I have waffled on  for long enough! I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

White Space!

Hey!

Every month I treat myself to a little purchase of paper crafting supplies. As you know I use a lot of Stampin' Up! items with my Uniko Studio stamps as I have to say their products are good quality. I'm a little disappointed with the new ink format but that's another story.

Anyway, when I saw the new Word Bubble Framelits Dies I just HAD to have them! Plus I knew they would work perfectly with the sentiments from the new Explosion! set...

I love white space on cards, hence my CAS style and this card is no exception! I think it took under 10 mins to make including trimming the CS to size, (10.5 cm square card base) die cutting, stamping & assembly!

Short & sweet again from me today. I'll be back again tomorrow with more to share, until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Birthday Blooms

Hey & Happy Monday!

I do hope your week has got off to a good start? Things here at Uniko Studio HQ seem to have started well & I'm back (not quite on schedule) with another card to share - YAY!

I was inspired by Taheerah's Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge photo seen HERE and below. As you can see the stripes, flowers & sequins in the photo was what jumped out at me most.

I started out by trimming a piece of white CS 9.5 x 13 cm, I then temporarily adhere the panel to my SU! grid paper stack. I then lined my solid stripe stamp from Background Builders: Squared onto an acrylic block with grid lines on it. I then stamped said stripe in black ink using the grid paper & block to stamp it evenly spaced on the panel. I always start with the lowest line and work upwards. I hope to get a video set up organised, so that I can show you my background stamping process.

Anyway, I hope the explanation has helped a little :) That's all from me today, I can't believe it's nearly time to cook the tea, so I had better crack on and finish a couple of things here in the studio! I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Keeping it simple!

Hey!

I'm back today with a super simple card to share with you all...

I decided to spend some time stamping & cutting out flowers from Flower Power #2 and leaves from Natures Treasures I. I find cutting out relaxing and it gives me thinking time as to what to do next!

I kept the card simple, using a sentiment from A Gift For You stamped straight onto the card base & then placing the flowers & leaves around the sentiment. A fairly quick but definitely simple card to produce in times of need!

We're off to do the weekly shop now & then it's to MIL for dinner, can't wait as I'm starving! I hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to & I will be back tomorrow afternoon with more to share. Until then THANK YOU for stopping by today :)

Congratulations...you made a card!

Hey & Happy Weekend!

I am finally back, it seems like forever since I blogged and sat down to make a card. We've been hit by this horrible head cold going around this week and I wasn't up to much at all. Today, I am feeling much better and now that I have caught up on a few things and the house doesn't look like a bomb site, I've taken some time for 'me' and made a few cards here in the studio.

Ok, so onto the card (apologies for the poor quality photos, one of my light tent bulbs has given up the ghost)...

I decided to make an all occasion Congratulations card. We made one similar in the class at The Paperlane last month (details HERE on the class for March). I changed the colours up a bit and decided to add faux sequin detail stamped in Raspberry Fizz and glittered.

The sequin stamps are from this months release set A Gift For You, which has been surprisingly popular and there are only a few left in store!! I gave the stamped panel a little lift by adhering it to the base card using foam adhesive.

Super quick & CAS to try and kick start my mojo after so long! It's lovely to see some entries into the current Uniko Studio Challenge HERE, I'm going to visit a few blogs and leaves some comments now as I've been bad at that too!!

I hope you are all well & having a lovely weekend, I will be back tomorrow with more to share, until then THANK YOU for stopping by today :)

New Challenge DT Call - Time Out Challenges

Hey!

WOW! What a fabulous few days! Did you all enjoy the NEW release? I know a lot did as you kept me busy fulfilling orders! Well, if you missed the post & blog hop you can catch up on it HERE and there is still time to comment along the hop to be in the chance of winning the prizes up for grabs.

Anyway, today I am telling you all about a NEW challenge blog called TIME OUT Challenges that is starting with it's first challenge in March & currently has a DT Call. I thought I would give it a go and try out for the team, as you all know I do love a challenge blog!

The theme for the DT call is Love and/or Friendship & this is what I came up with...

It wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a card for my husband! I decided to keep the hearts to a minimum an decided to use the NEW Explosion! set, as after all he is a guy and he might send me hearts and flowers but I know that they aren't his favourite!

I started out by using the current CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below.

I then stamped the explosion & LOVE sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and simply coloured it in with a red Copic marker and the sentiment in a pink Copic marker. I then trimmed the explosion out not leaving any border, which is really easy as it's all straight lines!

I then temporarily adhered the explosion to the white CS layer to stamp the exploding lines, 'YOU' sentiment which is masked from A Gift For You and the heart stamped from Always & Forever. The white layer is mounted to the black card base using foam adhesive as is the explosion.

Ok, that's all from me today, I had better get the dinner prepared, a lovely steak & chips over candle light tonight, plus lots of snuggles on the sofa with a good movie is planned!

I hope you all have a LOVELY Valentine's Day & thank you for stopping by today :)

Geometrics are still a HOT trend this year and with the popularity of Background Builders: Round In Circles in 2013 this set was created. Perfect for the backdrop on a variety of cards & creations AND for those troublesome masculine cards!

This little set features a cute polka dot gift along with a 2 step stamping bow, birthday themed sentiments and sequin accents AND it's only a £4.95 set. Though the sentiments are birthday themed this little set can be used for gift giving all year round!

Now that I've revealed all the products in their entirety which are ALL available to purchase HERE, how about a couple of projects...

My first card uses A Gift For You and the CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below. I started out by stamping the outline bow, masking it off and then stamping the gift in the same colour.

I added some Cosmic Shimmer silver glitter to the bow & gift box ribbon and Hero Arts Prisma Glitter to the polka dots.

For my next card I decided to use Background Builders: Squared combined with the current Retro Sketches layout seen HERE and below.

I used my neon Copic markers to colour the squares and create a fun angled background. The sentiment is from A Gift For You and I accented the sentiment banner with the diamond square stamp contained in the set.
