DT-Inspiration: Card with a rotating Stencil

Hello and Happy weekend to everybody!
It's time for another DT-Inspiration!

As always I made a card with a stencil for you. This time it's a quick one-layer card with a special "twist"!

For this design I thought a square card would be a perfect frame.
I marked the center of the card front, then placed my Nature Treasures II Leaf-Stencil.
The end of the stam I placed on the mark and fixed it with a fine needle - later I rotated the stencil around this needle, so I was sure to get the end of the stem always on the exact same spot!

I blended the three Oxide Inks with my blending brushes, beginning with the lightest one. When the first leaf was finished, I repeated the process on the opposite side. So it was easier to place the other 4 leaves without any exact measuring between these two leaves (eyeballing was enough).

Cause I liked the pattern in the center I used Vellum to create the circle with the heat embossed sentiment to keep it in sight. The two parts of the sentiment are from the set Simply Said Birthday. I cut the original sentiments with my scissors and combined them differently. Don't be afraid to stretch your stamps this way! If you cut them, you can always re-arrange them on an acrylic block with the help of the cutting line to the original form!)

To avoid any see-through glue I adhered the three sequins-flowers with a strong liquid glue on the edge of the Vellum and then I adhered the sequins with dimensional glue-dots on the card. The centers of these flower sequins I decorated with yellow Stickles (also to avoid any dust sticking to the glue dots behind later).
To finish the card I added some party pink Nuvo drops and some more yellow Stickles dots on the leaves as kind of buds.

I was surprised how quickly this card was finished! You needn't do many fancy things around your rotated stencil, cause this is the focal point!
This technique offers so many possibilities! I think I'll try some more of them soon - with different stencils and maybe also with a rotation-point outside of the coloured stencil-area (the center will be blank then).

I hope I could inspire you to stretch your creative muscles to try something new with your stencils!

You are invited to tell us in the comments which Uniko Stencils you used or want to use to give this technique a try!

Have a great and creative day!

Greetings from Wiebke

CAS Colours & Sketches #214

Hey!

It's Tuesday and time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. My apologies for being MIA last week, with the recent Uniko Release HERE and two crazy beans I was so exhausted by the time they went to bed I didn't have the energy to craft :(

Anyway, I am back this week and I've a card to share using THIS weeks sketch by our lovely hostess this month Patricia...

I had so many ideas for this sketch as it is so fun and versatile, this is what I settled on...

Since seeing this weeks challenge over at "Less is More" HERE, which is a theme of leaves and a one layer challenge week I've been itching to ink up Natures Treasures I and join in! So, I combined the challenges ;)

I used a die cut circle mask and my trusty MISTI to stamp 3 of the leaves from the set in 3 different Stampin' Up! ink colours, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive and Lucky Limeade. The sentiment is from Pure Florals: Cosmos and I chose this sentiment as it is one of the longest sentiments I have and represents the sketch beautifully.

Anyway, be sure to check out all the Design Team inspiration HERE on the CAS Colours & Sketches blog and I hope to see you in the gallery :) Challenge End Time: 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time/11:00 p.m. London U.K. time Monday, March 6, 2017

A Look Back At 2016!

Hey!

Welcome back to another 'Look Back At 2016! This year has been an amazing year for myself personally, but it has been a fantastic year for Uniko. We have had 5 fabulous releases, with 16 new clear stamps sets lining the Uniko HQ shelves.

I don't know about you, but to me this year has almost passed by in a blur! With that in mind I thought it would be nice now the main seasonal festivities are over and as 2016 draws to a close, to take a look back at Uniko's 2016.

Today, I am taking a look back at the June 2016 Release and giving some fresh inky love to Paradise  and Paradise Leaves clear stamp sets.

First up a card using Paradise...

A super quick and CAS card! I started by stamping the sentiment from the set and used my favourite of the Hibiscus flowers, stamped in Pink Grapefruit. The solid leaves from the set are stamped in Key Lime and the tiny trio of flowers in Persimmon. Hopefully in this next photo you can see the sparkle of the Clear Wink Of Stella I added to the flowers :)

For my Paradise Leaves card I used the same trio of colours, but also added in Turquoise Gem, Aquatic Splash and Sea Breeze.

The sentiment is from Originally Organic and another quick CAS card! It was lovely to play and think of warmer places, it has been SO cold here today and the frost we had overnight hardly lifted.

So, that's a quick look back at the June 2016 Release, I hope I have given you a little inspiration to dust off these sets if you have them ;)

I hope you will join me again tomorrow, when I will be taking a look back at the 2016 September/October Release. Until then, thank you for stopping by.

Hugs

CAS Colours & Sketches #192

Hey!

Karen is our hostess this month over at CAS Colours & Sketches and this week is sketch week. Karen  has this sketch HERE and seen below for you to try...

So this is what I came up with...

I've been preparing and making samples for the upcoming Uniko Sept/Oct release and I couldn't help but use a couple of the stamps on todays card. The idea just came to me and I went along with it ;)

I stamped the leaves and sentiment in Memento Rich Cocoa, a colour I rarely use to stamp with and then colour with Copic Markers, but it seemed less harsh than black. The leaves are just simply flat coloured with very little blending and I just randomly coloured them to give an Autumn feel.

Appropriate for the current Uniko Challenge HERE, which is a theme challenge with the optional twist of thanks.

Ok, that's all from me today! I hope I have inspired you to give the sketch a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

CAS - Colours and Sketches #188

Hey!

This month over at CAS Colours & Sketches we have had LOTS of fun challenges with each design team member taking it in turns to host. This is the last week of August and this week Patricia is our hostess.

It's sketch week and Patricia has this sketch HERE and seen below for you to try...

Argh, a oval...haha! My nightmare shape right now as I still don't any oval dies! Don't worry though as Patricia don't mind if you substitute the oval for a similar elongated shape, as long as the corners are NOT 90° - phew!

So this is what I came up with...

I wanted to do something a little different instead of simply layering card stock to create the rectangle/border effect of the sketch, so I did some masking and and stamping to achieve the look required.

I couldn't decide on a colour scheme either so in those circumstances, monochrome is the way to go! I had Beautiful Blooms II still on my desk from a previous card, so it got some more inky love ;)

I also decided to stamp the bloom so it overhung the Papertrey Ink mat Stack die cut. The whole card could have gone wrong at this point, as then I decided to stamp the bloom again on the base card to make the bloom whole, but add interest too, *luckily* it came out just right! I so NEED to invest in a MISTI, to overcome this stamping hurdles with ease ;)

CAS Colours & Sketches #183

Hey!

It's a new month over at CAS Colours & Sketches with LOTS of fun challenges in store. As it is the summer months we are taking it in turns to be a hostess for the week. This week our hostess is the lovely Stef.

Stef has come up with this lovely colour combo HERE and seen below for you to try...

With the Summer finally arriving this week here in the UK, my thoughts have been tropical again, so this is how my card turned out...

I was quite pleased as I have two of the 3 colours this week, so I didn't have to colour match. All the supplies are listed at the end of the post.

My card is just simple stamping of the Hibiscus and tropical leaves on a panel of whisper white CS. After I had finished stamping I sliced the panel at an angle and adhered it to a Tip Top Taupe card base, leaving a space for a white embossed sentiment.

Ok, that's all from me for now, I hope I have inspired you to give these colours a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

CAS Colours & Sketches #182

Hey!

This month over at CAS Colours & Sketches we have LOTS of fun challenges in store. As it is the summer months we are taking it in turns to be a hostess for the week. This week our hostess is the lovely Jane.

Jane has come up with this awesome sketch HERE and seen below for you to try...

I had SO many ideas for this sketch, but limited time this week to make a card. This is how I ended up using the sketch...

I had some previously stamped and die cut elements on my desk left over from previous projects a couple of weeks ago, so I put them to good use on my card!

The flower blooms are from Uniko's Flower Power #2 and I have used the Rock N Roll inking technique to stamp them. The leaves are from Natures Treasures II and the sentiment from Simply Said. The doily is a Papertrey Ink die cut. As usual I have added a good covering of Wink Of Stella to my flowers and leaves ;)

I hope I have inspired you to give the sketch a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Aloha!

Hey!

So, I am back again with even MORE paradise inspired cards! I have two to share tonight as yesterday, I simply ran out of time in the day to prepare a post.

Anyway, lets get to the projects...

This was the card I made last night, I used both the Paradise and Paradise Leaves clear stamp sets, along with a sentiment from Simply Said. Again, the bill of Bob is coloured with Copic markers and the ribbon is from Papertrey Ink.

Next I decided to make a more feminine card...

I combined both the sets again, using the two smaller leaves from Paradise Leaves to create a larger smaller leaf! I was inspired by the new Freshly Made Sketch sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card, so I masked the lower section to stamp the leaves.

After stamping the outline hibiscus flower, leaves and fussy cutting them I added a good dose of Wink Of Stella before adhering them to the card using foam adhesive. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish the card off.

Ok, that's all I have for you today using the NEW Uniko release stamps, by the way there is still time to comment on THIS post here to be in the chance of winning a £10 eGift Certificate. I do however have a Stamp Of The Week card over HERE, if you are looking for some more inspiration ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

June 2016 Reveal, Release & Giveaway!

Hey & HAPPY Saturday!

There is no better way to start the weekend than with a release of new Uniko goodies...right?!

Well, I'm super happy you have stopped by today as today we get to see the two new clear stamp sets in their entirety, Oh and there is a GIVEAWAY too at the end of the post ;)

Ok, so lets have a look see at these new goodies...

The Tropical trend is still HOT at the moment and I just had to jump on the band wagon and put my take on the trend out there!

Paradise £9.00 - £9.95
Copyright Uniko Ltd 2016

Firstly, I'd like to introduce you to Bob, Bob the Toucan! Bob was originally drawn way back in 2007/2008 while I was at Uni, the jungle/tropical trend was evident back then too ;)

I've added in fun graphical modern styled Hibiscus flowers to compliment the paradise theme, which also work perfectly with the previously released Paradise Hummingbird set.

Lastly we have a lovely mini complimentary set called Paradise Leaves. This is not only a FAB add on set to the two mentioned above but is also FUN on it's own.

Paradise Leaves £4.00 - £4.95
Copyright Uniko Ltd 2016

Now I have made the formal introductions how about some projects showcasing these two new clear stamp sets.

First up I decided to give Bob some inky love. He is simply stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I then used a trio of Copic markers to colour his bill. I used a black fine liner to add a little detail to his bill too.

As I decided to use the new CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below I thought the new Paradise Leaves would provide a good backdrop.

I used a trio of SU! inks to stamp the leaves, Bermuda Bay, Lucky Limeade and Tempting Turquoise. The tiny leaves are stamped in WPlus9 Mojito ink and the sentiment is from Simply Said.

Next I have a almost one layer floral card...

For this card I used the outline Hibiscus flower and 2 sizes of outline flowers from the Paradise clear stamp set. I used my favourite colour combination of Papertrey Inks Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores and SU! Lucky Limeade for the leaves.

The sentiment also from the set is stamped onto a piece of vellum and secured inside the card. I added a trio of SU! It's My Party enamel dots to add a little interest and a good dose of Wink Of Stella to the Hibiscus flowers.

This next card uses a combination of stamps from both the sets...

I started by stamping leaves from both the sets in a variety of WPlus9 and SU! inks. I then stamped the sentiment onto a strip of white CS to place over the middle of the stamped leaves adding a fussy cut Hibiscus flower using foam adhesive. I then went back in and added the trio of stamped tiny flowers to fill in some gaps between the leaves.

I have one last card to share with you today, one that we are making at my class today at The Paperlane...

This one firstly shows how the Hibiscus flower coordinates beautifully with the previously released Paradise Hummingbird

I started by using the solid Hibiscus flower stamp, which comes as two stamps. I have found it easier to stamp the stamen of the flower first, then the petals. Again I used my favourite Papertrey Ink trio of colours ;)

The hummingbird is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and embossed with stardust embossing powder, before being fussy cut out and adhered to the card using foam adhesive.

The new challenge HERE at Addicted to CAS is Aloha! So I thought I would enter this card over there too :)

Officially it is just me showcasing the new sets today, but I know DT Sarah P is sharing a card HERE using the new sets for her DT post over at Addicted to CAS. Be sure to stop on by and have a look :)

The Design Team will be joining me for a Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY on Saturday 25th June 9am BST. There will be a chance to win the entire June Release and the previously released Paradise Hummingbird clear stamp sets or an eGift Certificate to the same value.

HOWEVER, there is a chance to win an £10 eGift Certificate today, simply leave a comment on this post by Midnight Saturday 18th June 2016 to be in the chance of wining!

Both the new products are available HERE now to purchase, I have increased my stock levels again this month, so fingers crossed no-one will miss out.

Thank you for stopping by today and your lovely comments and support, they are all very much appreciated.

CAS Colours & Sketches #177

Hey!

I'm here today with my CAS Colours & Sketches DT card for this weeks challenge. Excited again, as I am hosting the challenges over there this month, which means I have picked the colour combinations and designed the sketches for you to use and hopefully inspire you to create and play along :)

This week HERE is sketch week and this is the sketch I came up with...

A fun and super simple sketch (well I think so), plus I have not restricted you on 'having' to use a tag on your card or a star, leaving plenty of scope for interpretation :)

Anyway, this is what I have come up with...

This card shows you a HUGE sneaky peek at a couple of NEW clear stamp sets being released on Saturday at Uniko ;) I just couldn't resist inking them up for todays sketch and when I saw the current colours over at Color Throwdown HERE and seen below it made me think of a Hawaiian shirt!

The tropical trend is BIG right now and I couldn't resist jumping on the bandwagon for this one! Having got married in Hawaii (nearly 3 years ago now), it brings back lots of lovely memories :)

I used a trio of WPlus9 inks on my card, Bloomsberry, Sweet Gelato and Sweet Nectar. I also added a good helping of clear Wink Of Stella to the Hibiscus flowers and a sentiment also from one of the sets.

Ok, that's about all from me just now, I have a few more cards to make using these NEW Uniko stamps for my class on Saturday at The Paperlane (still a couple of places left for the class) and then I am going to enjoy some sunshine in the garden while I am bean free for the afternoon ;)

Be sure to check out the CC&S Design Team inspiration HERE and I hope to see you in the gallery too this week!

Thanks for stopping by :)
