CAS Colours & Sketches #216

Hey!

It's time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and this month Patricia is our hostess and this week has another wonderful sketch to inspire us all.

There is so much you can do with this sketch, it really leaves you some options with the large rectangle to fill but on the other hand it can be hard to keep it CAS with all that open space. Anyway, this is what I came up with...

Unfortunately, I need to post out a Sympathy card and they are another type of card I have trouble making. However, I decided to reach for the swirly image from Originally Organic, selectively colouring it with a soft green and purple.

I added some clear Wink of Stella for a subtle finish, some Stampin' Up! enamel dots and a sentiment is from Simply Said.

Anyway, thats all from me, but be sure to check out all the Design Team inspiration HERE on the CAS Colours & Sketches blog and I hope to see you in the gallery :) Challenge End Time: 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time/11:00 p.m. London U.K. time Monday, March 28th, 2017

DT inspiration - Tea time

Hello all Rahmat here. I am up with a simple card today!
I am tea person, and all I need is a cup of Indian tea with milk, and fresh ginger and sweet basil at breakfast to start my day.
I used distress inks to  Squeezed lemonade, wild honey, carved pumpkin, and riped permission to sponge the ombre BG. I was aiming for a sunset sky BG. After sponged, I added some water sprinkles on the BG.
I stamped and fussy the cup in Lawn fawn - hippo ink, and fussy cut to add to the front. I used worn lipstick to stamp the floral design. The sentiment is stamped in black on a white strip, and edges using a gold strip on both ends. A few gold jewels to finish off.

Supplies:
Uniko - I LOVE tea clear stamps
Distress inks - carved pumpkin, squeezed lemonade, riped permission, wild honey. worn lipstick
Lawn Fawn - Hippo ink
Archival Black Ink
Water/mist spray for sprinkling
White card stock
Gold paper
Gold rhine stones

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate your kind  feedback :) Have a great day!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hey!

Today is Mother's Day here in the UK and I have enjoyed some lovely quality time with hubby and the beans :) To top it off the weather has been glorious this weekend and we have managed to spend time outside enjoying it.

I've been longing to spend some time in the garden, the previous owners had let it get very overgrown and seemed to like a lot of greenery and not a lot of flowers! So, I spent some time clearing one of the borders to create a blank canvas to plan my plants/shrubs for all year round colour.

Anyway, we did pop round to see my Mother In Law this morning and this is the card I made...

I couldn't resist inking up Originally Organic Additions again! This time I went for some fussy cutting. I started by stamping the heart wreath and a trio of flowers. I then cut the flowers out and adhered them into place on the wreath, I then stamped some smaller buds to the wreath before cutting it all out. This added a little more interest and depth to the design.

The sentiment is from Simply Said and I added a few tiny rhinestones and some clear Wink Of Stella for a little subtle sparkle. Inside the card I combined a sentiment from Most Wonderful and Celebrate with Cake, stamping another of the stems and flowers from Originally Organic Additions.

Before I go today, I also have the WINNER to announce for the Uniko March 2017 Design Team Blog Hop & Giveaway....

This is such a sweet card, and I love that stampset!

Congratulations Mirella! Please send an email along with your postal address to bev@uniko.co.uk by Sunday 9th April 2017 to claim your prize.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the rest of your day and weekend!

To link up your projects and more details about the hop and Super Sponsors pop on over to the Coffee Loving Carmakers Blog HERE.

To kick this FABulous hop off I've created my own Spring themed tea card...

I've had this idea in my head for a few days now and I just needed 10 minutes to sit down to create it! At first I couldn't decide whether to use one of the Flower Power stamps to stamp growing outside the teacup from I LOVE Tea, but settled upon the stem from Originally Organic and the flowers from Originally Organic Additions.

I kept the design CAS and left the images just stamped in the colours and uncoloured. The stem and flowers are fussy cut and I made a small cut along the rim of the teacup to place the stem inside so it would look as if the plant is growing out of the teacup.

That's all I had time to make for today, but I hope that I have inspired you to join in on the fun HERE! But, before I go today, how about another PRIZE?!

Simply leave a comment on this post by 6am (PST) March 31st and I will select one lucky comment to receive an in stock clear stamp set of their choosing from the Uniko website!

I look forward to hopping by and seeing all your wonderful creations, have fun!

CAS Colours & Sketches #215

Hey!

It's time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and this month Patricia is our hostess and this week has another wonderful colour combination to inspire us all.

A fun combo don't you think? I'm not a huge fan of Rich Razzleberry so it daunted me a little, but this is what I came up with...

I was inspired by the new challenge over at AAA Cards HERE, which is to use die cuts and I was especially inspired by CC&S teamie and AAA Cards member Jane with THIS card created for the challenge.

Hopefully you can tell I was inspired by the die cut frame idea?! So, I used my Stampin' Up! Stitched Framelit dies to create the square frame and then dusted off Uniko Flower Power #7 to stamp the stem and flower.

After assembling my card I decided the flower needed a little more interest and stamped it again and fussy cut it out. I adhered it using foam adhesive like the frame and added an enamel dot to finish it off. The sentiment is from Simply Said.

DT inspiration: One Layer, Masculine cards

Hi! It's Lindsey here with a little bit of DT inspiration for you.
I have a double whammy post with 2 similar card designs for you today and they are both:

ONE LAYER!

and

MASCULINE!

I get the impression that a lot of people seem to dislike both these sorts of cards.
However, they are one of my favourite cards to make!

I always keep masculine cards very CAS with bold colours.

The wonderfully, big and bold Happy Birthday sentiment is one of my favourites for masculine cards with its crisp simple font.
Here I've coupled it with the geometric stamp sets "Background Builders: Triangles and Circles".

When making One Layer Cards, I do spend (quite a lot!) of time deciding on the composition and it usually involves trios.

The brain (apparently according to research) looks and tries to pair things together; it is then visually satisfied and stops looking. So if you use a triangular shape, the eyes are continually moving around the card creating more visual appeal.

Even though I feel the "less is more" adage definitely holds true for masculine cards, one layer cards can seem a little 'flat' so I always add embellishments. Again, I usually go for a trio to guide the eye around the card.

I also, more often than not, add an embossed line around the edge of my one layer cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Let's combine Washi Tape and Uniko!

Hello there it's Sarah P here and I've a DT inspired post for you this morning which I've combined with my Less is More Challenge post HERE

Our challenge for the week is to use Washi Tape on your Clean and Simple card so I decided to create my own tape using some Uniko stamps, having been inspired a few weeks ago when I spotted THIS card by Elaine. I googled 'how to make washi tape' and couldn't believe it could be so easy!

The possibilities, colours and designs are now endless!

Here's my card and the 'recipe' and details, if you want to give this a go, are below

One of my favourite geometric-style sets from Uniko is Background Builders circles. It's a great one to have for many different occasions and designs, especially for those guys!

Recipe for washi tape: Tissue Paper, Sheet of double sided tape eg. stick-it, stamps, inks

  • Step 1. Adhere the tissue paper to the double sided adhesive (peel and stick tape would work too)
  • Step 2. Stamp away, any type of ink, any colour, any stamps (I used Altenew inks then added some white heat embossed areas)
  • Step 3. Cut into strips of required width
  • Step 4. Peel off the backing paper .... away you go

The sentiment I've used is from Simply Said Birthday and it's popped up on 3d foam on a pinked-edge circle die from Paper Smooches.

If you'd like to have a go with washi tape and play along at the Less is More challenge this week then you have until 10pm GMT on Friday, 24th March 2017 and the link you need is HERE

Thanks for calling by the blog today and I hope you feel inspired.
