CAS - Colours and Sketches #188

Hey!

This month over at CAS Colours & Sketches we have had LOTS of fun challenges with each design team member taking it in turns to host. This is the last week of August and this week Patricia is our hostess.

It's sketch week and Patricia has this sketch HERE and seen below for you to try...

Argh, a oval...haha! My nightmare shape right now as I still don't any oval dies! Don't worry though as Patricia don't mind if you substitute the oval for a similar elongated shape, as long as the corners are NOT 90° - phew!

So this is what I came up with...

I wanted to do something a little different instead of simply layering card stock to create the rectangle/border effect of the sketch, so I did some masking and and stamping to achieve the look required.

I couldn't decide on a colour scheme either so in those circumstances, monochrome is the way to go! I had Beautiful Blooms II still on my desk from a previous card, so it got some more inky love ;)

I also decided to stamp the bloom so it overhung the Papertrey Ink mat Stack die cut. The whole card could have gone wrong at this point, as then I decided to stamp the bloom again on the base card to make the bloom whole, but add interest too, *luckily* it came out just right! I so NEED to invest in a MISTI, to overcome this stamping hurdles with ease ;)

Ok, that's all from me today! I hope I have inspired you to give the sketch a go and join in on the challenge this week. Be sure to stop on over HERE and check out what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches DT have done using the colours and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Crisp & Fresh!

Hey!

The title of this post could be describing the current weather here in the North East as it seems to have turned VERY cold & windy. The perfect kind of weather for snuggling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate & a good movie. Which is what I will be doing shortly!

My title also refers to my card I have to share with you this evening...

I combined a couple of challenges to help me create this little card. Firstly I used the current CASology theme of CRISP. I love white embossing & how crisp it looks on kraft. I'm also liking the white embossing on vellum which is popping up around blogland.

The second challenge I incorporated is the current Freshly Made Sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card...

My card is super simple, I just stamped & embossed the poinsettia & sentiment on the kraft mat layer. I then stamped & embossed the poinsettia twice on vellum & fussy cut out just a small section of the flower. I adhered them to the kraft layer using double sided tape & added a few rhinestones to the centre. Then adhered the mat layer to the base card using foam adhesive.

That's all from me this evening, it's been a busy day here in the studio as I prepare all the soon to be released goodies! Also, a new shipment of Graphic Flowers from Time Dies arrived today & the website has been updated with their arrival!

Thanks for stopping by today :)

Power Of The Flower!

Hey!

Today I'm sharing a card that I've made for the NEW Runway Inspired Challenge seen HERE and below...

As soon as I saw the inspiration photo my card was already made in my head! I knew exactly what supplies I was going to use and this is how it turned out...

Don't you just love it when a card idea turns out just how you saw it in your head?! I started out by stamping the leaves & stem from Flower Power #1 in a line, overlapping the stems to create a seamless pattern. I repeated the process on both sides of the card.

I then stamped the smallest graphic flower from Time in VersaMark and embossed it in Cosmic Shimmer White EP (Love this stuff!) and fussy cut them out (soon to be a thing of the past *wink*). I also embossed the sentiment onto a die cut banner, adhering this flat to the card. The flowers are adhered using foam adhesive to add some dimension.

This design would look just as FAB in colour as it does in black & white! A little tip for you: To help stamp & overlap the stems I drew a faint pencil line onto my card base.

I hope you've enjoyed todays card as much as I enjoyed making it! Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today.

I WISH...

It would SNOW!

Hey and happy Saturday to you all. I was out walking yesterday morning and it was bitterly cold and all I could think about was SNOW! Yep, I'm a snow lover and so because it's not on it's way here yet I'd make a snow card instead...

I used the current Runway Inspired Challenge HERE and seen below as my inspiration...

I love the result of this card especially the CAS crispness, it's reminds me of the first crunch as you step into fresh snow!

That's all from me today, I hope you have a wonderful day whatever you may be up to. I think we are off out shopping for the afternoon. I hope to get a little time in The Studio later to make a few more projects for the upcoming release!

Thanks for stopping by.

Kraft & White

Hey!

Sorry for the late post today, I've been feeling a little under the weather today and I didn't get round to photographing my card for today until this evening. Keeping it short & sweet tonight here's my card...

Kraft & White another great combination! Here is a little close up of the detail...

It's hard to capture the subtle sparkle in a photo, but the little background circles are stamped in Versamark Frost.

I'll be back again tomorrow with more to share, until then thank you for stopping by.

Butterflies & Doilies

Hey!

I'm back today with a neutral card featuring butterflies & doilies, another perfect combination! In my eyes anyway!

This card was super easy! I used Decorative Doilies The Hands of Time & stamped one of the doilies in Fresh Snow in onto a Kraft CS base. I then used my Sizzix Circle dies to die cut a 1 5/8" circle & swiped the Fresh Snow ink around the edge & then adhering it to the centre of one of the doilies. The butterfly is a SU! punch & I used some October Afternoon paper from  my scrap pile & added a few pearls down the middle of the butterfly. The sentiment is from FONTiments - Birthday.

Here is a close up ...

I'm off to CCAD print club today to screen print some of Uniko Studio designs onto Tote bags, looking forward to going back to the college & using the print rooms & catching up with friends!

Thanks for stopping by today!
