Uniko Challenge #63 - Anything Goes + Optional Twist Use A Stencil

 Hey!

Welcome to the January/February 2021 Uniko Challenge.

We're kicking off the year with a simple main theme of Anything Goes and have added in a popular twist of Use A Stencil(s).

The Uniko Brand Ambassadors have been busy creating cards to inspire you to play along. And it looks like the twist of stencils appealed to all of them.

Are you ready to play?

Well, just in case you need some more incentive to play along with the challenge here are the details of the prizes.

Due to the current chaos around the world and here in the UK, I have temporarily reduced the value of the prizes. This is so that I can keep my small business afloat during these uncertain times. I hope you understand and will still join in on the fun.

Thank you for your continued support & joining in with the fun at Uniko.

THE PRIZES
  • Main Winner Chosen By the DT - £15 eGift Certificate
  • Random Twist Winner - £5 eGift Certificate
  • Random Uniko Stamps Winner - £5 eGift Certificate
  • Top 3 Chosen By DT - 150 Loyalty Reward Points

There is plenty of time to join and play along with this challenge.
The deadline for submission is midnight (GMT) on Friday 19th February 2021.

BA Inspiration - Two for Tuesday

 Bonjour !

Izzy here. I hope you started the new year in good health and that you are ready to craft with us all year long. Today I decided to make two cards with one product (two in fact if we take into account the sentiment).

I used the Background Blocks Scattered Hearts and the You Are...Sentiments Outlined sets. These two stamps sets are just ideal for making Valentine's cards that is approaching fast...

My first card really seems to be for Valentine's Day because of the hearts but also my choice of colours. I simply stamped the background hearts stamp in grey on a white card stock and I cut it with a heart shape die. I also die cut a heart in red foam and I flattened it with my hand so that it makes a red outline under the white heart.

I also die cut a heart in red foam and I flattened it with my hand so that it makes a red outline under the white heart.
I die cut a dotted white square panel on which I stamped the sentiment and I adhered it on a red double card. To finish I coloured one of the tiny hearts in red as well as one word of the sentiment.

I wanted my second card a little bit more colourful so on a double white card stock I stamped and white heat embossed the Background Blocks Scattered Hearts and I randomly coloured some tiny hearts in different bright colours.

To emphasize even more the sentiment I fussy cut part of a heart shape in a white card stock and I stamped the sentiment in black. To finish I foam mounted it on the white double card.

You can also see HERE another design with this stamp made by my teamie Rahmat.

That's all from me today. Thank you for stopping by. Keep safe and sane and enjoy your week.

Wednesday WINNERS!

 Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are all well, safe & hanging in there with yet another lockdown here in England. I felt as flat as a pancake Monday night, but I gave myself a good talking to and although I didn't sleep great I woke up on Tuesday feeling positive.

Lockdown 1 hit me hard, but thanks to my fitness routine I am in a much better place emotionally, mentally & physically. In the last 6 months I have grounded a pretty good routine to ensure I get my daily exercise and time for me.

Home schooling resumed yesterday and so far it has gone well. The school/teachers have been more organised since the return to school post lockdown 1 and have a home learning platform set up with a much better schedule & learning tasks set up. So I am not having to spend hours finding work and making plan which takes a lot of the stress off me.

I have set a rough daily routine for completion of school work, but also allowing myself a bit of time to get work done, so Uniko will be staying open this time. Please be aware that orders may take a little longer for me to pack & get out to the Post Office, but I will do my best to get them shipped the next day as normal.

Anyway, enough of that! How about some WINNERS?

I hope you enjoyed the Countdown to Christmas posts that I did manage to do ;) and you might remember the Stunning Snowflake giveaway I had HERE

I've used a random number generator to help me pick the lucky comment left on the post and the winner is...

Oh what a frustrating bummer about your new appliances. Hope it's all taken care of tomorrow. I love snowflakes, too, so would love to win your generous giveaway! I used to love wrapping presents, but these days we just give gift cards. Can't wait to see your packaging!

Congratulations Greta! Please send me an email to bev@uniko.co.uk with your postal address so I can get the Stunning Snowflakes clear stamp set in the post to you.

NEXT, I have the Uniko 2020 Christmas Party Winners to announce. Thank you to everyone that joined in on the fun & I hope even if you had finished making your cards for the Christmas just gone, you got a head start for this year!

The Top, Second & Third Prizes were selected via a vote system with myself & the Uniko Brand Ambassadors.

BA Inspiration - Hello Ink Techniques

Hi, it's Jane here today and I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

Today I'm using just one stamp - Big & Bold Hello - and three different ways to ink it up.

Card 1 - ink around the edge. First use a pale colour to ink up the stamp, then bounce a darker colour around the edges.

Card 2 - oxides inks on an acrylic block

Add a different colour of ink to each quarter of an acrylic block. Give it a very light spritz with water and then use it to ink up the stamp before stamping onto card.

Card 3 - a baby wipe ink pad.

Place a folded baby wipe onto an acrylic block and then using re-inkers drop three colours onto it.  The moisture from the wipe will allow the colours to mix - I used pink, yellow and blue.

Once the inks were dry I used the same card design to finish off each stamping. I chose card colours to reflect the inks.

Thanks so much for looking today. If you give any of these techniques a try please share on social media using #unikoltd.

Stay safe and keep crafting!

Stencil Sunday - Happy 2021 Balloons

Happy Sunday!

It's a slow, easy & chilled Sunday here at Uniko HQ as I mentally prepare for the chaos of early mornings and the back to school routine! Along with some chores around the house, I have made sure to find a little pocket of creative time in the studio for me.

I often neglect my stencils, so another of my goals in 2021 is to show them some more love. Stencil Sunday's will most likely become a regular feature (again) to achieve this goal ;)

I am continuing my love for the 2021 Pantone colours of the year, mainly because I still had them out on my desk! I remember a few years ago, though it is probably more if I really thought about it, when the yellow and grey colour combo was a big trend in the paper crafting and handmade card community. Do you remember?

As you can see, today I am giving the Stencil - Balloon Bash some inky love. And I am practicing with soft, light blending to the centre of the balloon, to darker edges on the outside. To achieve some depth and life like appearance. I often get heavy handed when blending, even though using blending brushes is a little easier to achieve a softer blend.

The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks and I stamped the 2021 using Alphabet Outlined, it's one of my favourite 'go to' sets on my desk at the moment!

As I have created a lovely CAS design I thought it would be nice to join in over at CAS on Friday and their Best Wishes challenge HERE. I don't think I have joined in on this challenge before, although I have had them bookmarked for sometime now. Be sure to check it out if you enjoy CAS challenges :)

That's all from me today, it's time for me to get another chore done before the online food shop arrives and then I've the dinner to cook.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the lovely New Year comments & wishes.
