Uniko Birthday Inspiration Through The Years - Part 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Uniko 13th Birthday Celebrations and part 2 of my Inspiration Through The Years. If you missed part 1 you can catch up HERE. 

Today I am sharing three cards using a product from 2015, 2016 and 2017. I've then made a new card inspired by the original.

Let's have a look.

Balloon Bash was released in February 2015 and it is a clear stamp set that I designed to stand the test of time. I kept it simple with two simple solid balloon shapes, so confetti style stamps, strings and ribbon. I love how this set can be turned to time again and used with various paper craft trends and techniques as they come and go.

Here's my new card inspired by this original above.

As you can see I kept some things the same. The black card base and striking black balloon, which is hard to tell in the original, but for this I heat embossed with Stardust EP. I fussy cut the balloon and adhered it using foam tape.

For the star confetti I stamped it down the edge of my card in rainbow colours, adding similar bakers twine. I used the Happy Birthday from Floral Vines for my sentiment.

My next card uses Celebrate With Cake, originally released in April 2016. Although this clear stamp set is currently retired, I couldn't resist giving it a little bit of inky love. 

I don't think at this point I would re-release this particular stamp set, it is one that I hope to improve and bring a new version of in the future.

One thing I am loving with this feature on the blog, is dusting off some older neglected supplies. Not only Uniko stamps, but general craft supplies that have been packed away out of sight. 

I used to love using various shaped dies, such as these Lacey Circles from Spellbinders. They add a lovely accent to clean & simple cards without being too distracting from the image. I finished my card with the Happy Birthday from Simply Said which arrived back in stock today.

Lastly for today I dusted off Block Party Birthday. 

This large block stamp debuted in February 2017. The design was inspired by the Subway Art style and also a design I had done as a freelance designer which I did alongside Uniko when I first started. This design once the license had run its time became Block Party Christmas, this of which released later in October 2017. 

I know this clear stamp is currently out of stock, it will return soon. But again, I couldn't resist using it and giving it some love during this celebration.

I kept things simple today with ink blending my background in Sweet Pea, Aqua Sky and Oceanside. I then used my MISTI to stamp the background in the same colours and then heat emboss with WOW! Clear Sparkle EP.

Celebrating 12 Years 🎉 Uniko Birthday Inspiration

 

Hello & Happy Weekend! 

I'm here today with some more birthday card inspiration. I've been creatively itching to ink up the Block Party Birthday clear stamp. So today I did and created two fun shaker cards inspired by Uniko brand colours.

For my first card ink blending Oceanside, Carnation and Aqua Sky inks. It's hard to see in the photo's, but I then stamped the Block Party Birthday over the top in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with WOW Clear Sparkle embossing powder.

I then created a full shaker and finished with Balloon Bash and the Happy Birthday sentiment from Floral Vines. I've adhered these using foam adhesive.

For my second card I again heat embossed the Block Party Birthday using black ink and Stardust EP. I added the Uniko brand colours using alcohol markers.

With the background being more visible and prominent I decided not to embellish the full shaker card.

DT Spot - Block Party Birthday

Hello!

It's Lindsey with you today and a little inspiration using the Block Party Birthday Stamp.

This stamp is great for making quick and easy cards and a fab stamp to turn to for those, often dreaded, masculine cards!

Just stamp in black ink for a monochrome background.  Then pair with a bold, bright colour for an equally bold, striking masculine card.

I've plumped for orange with a strip of matching patterned paper, but it would work just as well with blue or green (or whatever takes your fancy!).

I've also added a couple of candles from the "Big & Bold Wish" stamp set, again stamped in orange.

When positioning items on your card, be mindful of the "rule of thirds".
The thinking behind this rule is that an image should be imagined as divided into 9 equal parts by 2 equally spaced vertical and 2 equally spaced horizontal lines.
You then position important elements of your design along these lines or at the points where they meet.
I use this composition in the huge majority of my card designs; if you haven't already, why not give it a go?!

BTW my favourite black ink is Versamark Onyx Black; it's great for detailed stamps like this one!
Just allow it time to dry as the ink stays wet a little while; you don't want to smudge your lovely stamped image!

Introducing... Block Party Birthday

YAY!

I'm SO happy that you have stopped by today, as here at Uniko preparations for the February & 5th Birthday product release are well underway. We have had all the sneak peeks at the 5 clear stamp sets being released and NOW it is time for the Design Team and I to introduce them to you.

Today we are introducing a new to Uniko style of stamp called Block Party. The first stamp in this series is appropriately named Block Party Birthday...

As you can see, the stamp is one BIG block, measuring 9.5 x 13 cm and it is a style of Subway Art. You might recognise some images from previously released and now retired clear stamp sets. I decided to do this first card in a rainbow colour scheme, it is simply stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and I used my MISTI tool, so I could repeatedly stamp it to get a nice crisp finish. 

Sometimes with larger stamps like this one, it is hard to get even pressure across the whole stamp and get a clean image first time. With using the MISTI tool the stamped image is kept in place and you can repeatedly stamp and ink up as many times as needed.

I was thrilled to discover that some shiny star embellishments I have in my stash were the perfect size to place over the row of stars in the image :)
