Let's combine Washi Tape and Uniko!

Hello there it's Sarah P here and I've a DT inspired post for you this morning which I've combined with my Less is More Challenge post HERE

Our challenge for the week is to use Washi Tape on your Clean and Simple card so I decided to create my own tape using some Uniko stamps, having been inspired a few weeks ago when I spotted THIS card by Elaine. I googled 'how to make washi tape' and couldn't believe it could be so easy!

The possibilities, colours and designs are now endless!

Here's my card and the 'recipe' and details, if you want to give this a go, are below

One of my favourite geometric-style sets from Uniko is Background Builders circles. It's a great one to have for many different occasions and designs, especially for those guys!

Recipe for washi tape: Tissue Paper, Sheet of double sided tape eg. stick-it, stamps, inks

  • Step 1. Adhere the tissue paper to the double sided adhesive (peel and stick tape would work too)
  • Step 2. Stamp away, any type of ink, any colour, any stamps (I used Altenew inks then added some white heat embossed areas)
  • Step 3. Cut into strips of required width
  • Step 4. Peel off the backing paper .... away you go

The sentiment I've used is from Simply Said Birthday and it's popped up on 3d foam on a pinked-edge circle die from Paper Smooches.

If you'd like to have a go with washi tape and play along at the Less is More challenge this week then you have until 10pm GMT on Friday, 24th March 2017 and the link you need is HERE

Thanks for calling by the blog today and I hope you feel inspired.

CAS Colours & Sketches #169

Hey!

It's Thursday AGAIN (these weeks are flying by), which means it is time for another challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week HERE out hostess Louise has a fun sketch for you to try...

I was looking at the different sized circles on the sketch first of all to determine which stamp sets to use. I nearly opted for the recently released Fun Flowers, but ended up using the flowers from Flower Power #3 and I LOVE Coffee...

I had recently purchased some SU! It's My Party Washi Tape, so my colours were determined by the ones I chose to use on my card for the rectangles.

This week everything has been back on schedule for the beans after the Easter break, which means we have been back to playgroup. One day back and I come down with ANOTHER cold after 2 weeks clear :( I'm hoping that my bean free afternoon of rest and a little creative therapy will make me feel better!

Anyway, enough of my woes, be sure to stop by the CAS Colours & Sketches blog HERE to see how the rest of the design team have used the sketch. I look forward to seeing you in the gallery :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

A Wonderful Washi Christmas!

Hey!

I just LOVE it when you come across a challenge that is just perfect for a particular stamp set and that is just the case with the current Retro Sketches sketch seen HERE and below...

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that Wonderful Washi Christmas had to be inked up & used! Apologies to those who are not yet in Christmas mode, I seemed to have got a lot of Christmas spirit at the moment & seem to have missed out Autumn! However, I have a few Autumnal projects I'd like to create which I will share soon.

Anyway, back to the card in question! I decided to make my own Washi tape using tissue paper & wide double sided tape. I also decided to make my homemade tape sparkly, so I stamped & heat embossed it before adding the double sided tape to the reverse. It does wrinkle the tissue paper slightly, but I think that adds to the effect of creating your own Washi tape.

Well this week seems to have got of to a much better start than last week, which isn't hard, but hopefully it's a sign that I am getting back into a routine of normality!

That's all from me today, I'm dusting off the sketchbook today to design some loveliness! I'll be back tomorrow though with more to share :) until then thank you for stopping by today.

Card Stock: White from stash & Silver Stardust from eBay
Ink: Silver Pigment Ink & Versafine Onyx Black

Wonderful Washi

Hey!

I seem to have slept most of Saturday away today & had a late inky session in the studio, but overall had a good day! I hope your all having a good day & enjoying what you've done or are up to :)

It's been some time since I inked up my Wonderful Washi stamps & so I've a Wonderful Washi card to share with you all today...

It just so happens that Moxie FAB World are holding some challenges over on the blog and one of them HERE is all about using Washi Tape. So I had to join in on the fun using Uniko Studio's Wonderful Washi clear stamp set!!

As I was layering my Washi over a doily that my friend Claire gave me to try out from SU! I stamped my Washi onto card. If I had not been layering it I would have searched for my white tissue paper and 'made' some of my own self adhesive Washi tape!

A sentiment from Label Love: Birthday stamped onto a banner die cut, some satin ribbon, a heart shaped button & some bling finished the card of nicely! I used the current Dynamic Duos colour challenge HERE and seen below for my card. Two colours I'd not automatically grab to put together, but I'm liking it!

So that's all from me today, I'm off to chill in front of the TV and watch a movie! Thanks for stopping by today.

A Wonderful Washi Christmas!

Hey!

Have your self a Wonderful Washi Christmas...

Today's card uses Uniko Studio's Wonderful Washi: Christmas and I created my own Washi tape using some 1" wide double sided tape and some Silver tissue paper. I made some of this in my demo on Saturday at The Paper Lane and it was SO much fun!

Making Your Own Washi Tape is simple, just stamp your Wonderful Washi ribbon onto one side of the tissue paper and let it dry for a few minutes. Apply 1" wide double sided tape to the reverse of the tissue paper where you stamped the design. It's easy to see as the tissue paper is so thin. Trim design out and apply to project! Voila! Your own Washi Tape!

On the snowflake Washi design I added some stickler but you could also emboss your Washi Ribbon and use sparkly embossing powders. The possibilities are endless & I'm sure you'll be seeing a few more home made Washi tapes on projects in the near future!

This card is perfect to share on the Young Crafters Unite! challenge blog HERE whose challenge is to create a card for the up coming holidays - not too hard!

Well, there's many more cards to be made so I had better crack on!

Thanks for stopping by.

Super FREE Saturday!

Hey!

Whoop Whoop! It's that time of the month for another Super FREE Saturday. If your not sure what it's all about it's explained HERE in the very first Super FREE Saturday post. So, this month we're getting into the Holiday Spirit with a bit of 'ho ho ho - let it snow'!

Here's a pic of what's contained in this months FREE download...

This FREE kit available for download HERE from the Uniko Studio website contains 4 digital stamps that come in a brush and a PNG file and 3 patterned papers in JPG format in both A4 and US Letter size. Not bad for a freebie - huh!

How about a couple of cards showing you what you can do with this kit...

I love, love LOVE snow & snowflakes! So I decided to use the polka dot paper and the 'let it snow' digital stamp sentiment to make this CAS card that would be super easy to mass produce in no time at all!

Another contemporary and classy colour combo Red, White & Kraft - yum! A bit of added sparkle with rhinestones and glitter tops it off to perfection!

One thing I love about my job is designing something I've wanted and needed in order to get a start on my Christmas cards and that was a 'let it snow' sentiment! So, I couldn't resist making another card using it!

Another contemporary and classy colour combo on this card and another of my FAVES! For this card I used the Wonderful Washi stamp set, I hear you say "where"!

I used one of the larger Washi stamps and stamped it onto the reverse of each of the patterned papers contained in the kit in a light ink so that I could cut a perfect Washi ribbon! Once I had cut the Washi ribbons out I added some Hero Arts Prisma Glitter to all the white patterns, glitter is ESSENTIAL when creating Christmas cards!

Ok, so that's enough from me how about a look at how the Design Team & Digital Design Team have used the kit...

Be sure to pop on by the website to download the 'ho ho ho -  let it snow' kit and the Autumn SALE is still on!

I'd LOVE to see what you create using the freebie so post a link to your project below or email me a photo and I'll load it to the Uniko Studio Flickr site HERE and link it up here too!

I'll be back again tomorrow with a couple more SFS 'ho ho ho let it snow' cards to share with you. Thanks for stopping by today.

10 Minutes Spare!

Hey!

I'm here today to share a card I made in less than 10 minutes for the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge seen HERE and below...

Being a CAS kinda girl I love a quick card and I also love it when it actually turns out how I intended it to! Here's my card...

This card took me 9 minutes 41.5 seconds. It took a little longer than I thought due to lining up the die cuts to stamp on so the pattern would match that on the card and also because I decided to stamp the sentiment in black ink rather than Hawaiian Shores which I had intended.

Here's a close up of the star detail...

I just LOVE this colour combo on a dull Autumn day, it sure brightens up The Studio! That's all from me today, I'll be back again tomorrow with more to share.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Quick Hello!

Hey!

Just popping in with a quick Hello card to share with you all...

I was inspired by the current Runway Inspired Challenge seen HERE and below. What caught my eye was the diagonal stripes on the pocket of the striped top & I immediately thought of two stamps from Wonderful Washi which perfect for this card!

Here is a little close up of the detail...

That's all I have to share for today, I do hope you will pop by the blog tomorrow to meet the new additions to the Uniko Studio DT! I'm super excited about these talented ladies joining the already fabulous team and can't wait to see them in action with Uniko Studio products!

Until tomorrow, thanks for stopping by.

Washi TIME!

Hey!

I'm a little later than normal with my post today, with being away for a weekend there is much to catch up on and here at Uniko Studio we have some exciting Design Team announcements coming this Saturday plus exciting NEW products for release next month. You won't want to miss a second! Anyway,  I've got some Wonderful Washi paired with Today, Tomorrow & Always Time to share with you today...

My card LO was inspired by this one below that I came across on Pinterest...

As soon as I saw it I knew that Wonderful Washi would be the perfect stamp set to use. I liked the large sentiment too and decided to use the on from Today, Tomorrow & Always Time. I added a little punched out sparkly heart for the finishing touch which also makes this card perfect for the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge HERE to incorporate a heart.

That's all from me today, until tomorrow thanks for stopping by.

Silver Snowflakes

Hey!

I'm back today with a couple of Christmas cards to share with you...

I really enjoyed making these Doily Snowflake cards HERE and the colour scheme I used, so I couldn't resist using the colour scheme again. I used iSpy Sketches current challenge HERE, which is to use one of their past sketches as the LO of my card. I chose a sketch from July and you can see it HERE and below...

Here is a close up of the silver & white snowflake detail...

This was such a super simple card to make & it would be easy to whip up a batch of these in no time at all using an array of colours. Instead of doing that though I went ahead and made another card with nearly all the same supplies and made this card...

For this card I just change the Wonderful Washi stamp from the Polka Dot one to the leaf diamond pattern one, chose a different sentiment and changed the LO slightly. Another CAS card that can be mass produced if needed!

For both of the cards I used Uniko Studio Wonderful Washi stamps and heat embossed them in silver & star dust EP. Both the sentiments are from Papertrey Ink and the Snowflakes are a Martha Stewart punch.

I'm entering both these cards into the current 'Less Is More' challenge HERE which is to use Silver and also the Moxie FAB World WCMD Christmas Challenge HERE

That's all from me today, but I'll be back again tomorrow with more to share. Thanks for stopping by.
