A continuing theme...

Hey & Happy Weekend!

Today I've been at The Paperlane 'teaching' my last 2 classes before I take maternity leave (of sorts). I'll still be organising the kits for the August & September classes & running the business here at home, but won't be back at The Paperlane till October.

Anyway, one of the techniques we explored today was the baby wipe stamping which I shared HERE and HERE. These are a couple of cards included in the kit using the technique and the revisited set for this month, Pure Florals: Chrysanthemum...

I really liked a card layout I had seen HERE on this post by Nichole Heady & instantly thought of the small solid Chrysanthemum. I'm still loving the angled trend and love the reverse die cut / stamping technique.

An interesting discovery today using the baby wipe technique is that you get different results as to the type of baby wipe you use. On some the inks spread and blend more that on others, so it's good to experiment!

Now for a super CAS vibrant rainbow Chrysanthemum! This makes me happy this card & again I've used my FAVE combo of colours!

That's all from me today, it's been a lovely but long day so I think I will hit the sack! Don't forget to join in & comment along the DT Blog Hop HERE for your chance to win the revisited set & dies or Gift Certificate to the same value.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by :)

White Wash Watercolour Technique

Hey!

Today I thought I would share a few more cards which we made during the class at The Paperlane on Saturday, using a white wash technique that I came across. I made 3 cards using the technique...

This first card uses the Gerbera from Pure Florals: Gerbera which will be back in stock in the next couple of weeks.

We also used the Chrysanthemum from Pure Florals: Chrysanthemum...

There are only a few steps to achieving this look which are really simple which I have shown in picture format.

1. Stamp your chosen outline image in VersaMark or white pigment ink onto kraft card stock & emboss with white embossing powder. (You can use other colours of card stock as I will show you further down the post. I saw it done on the kraft & loved the look).

Stamping & embossing the image helps with the next couple of steps, keeping the white wash & colours inside!

2. Next is applying the white wash. I used the lid of my white pigment ink as a pallet, but you could use a craft mat or piece of acetate. Smoosh some white pigment ink onto it and using fine watercolour brush and a small amount of water paint the image...

3. The next step is to start adding colour...

You want to choose fairly bright colours as over laying them over the white wash & blending them mutes them some what. For the pink Gerbera I used Melon Mambo & Regal Rose and for the Chrysanthemum I used Pumpkin Pie & Summer Sun.

Using the same technique and supplies as applying the white wash I started adding the colours. In the picture above in the top right I have shown just the Pumpkin Pie added to areas of the petals and to the lower left I have used the Summer Sun & blended them to create a natural look. When I painted the original I did all the dark shaded areas with Pumpkin Pie first then I went over with the Summer Sun and if necessary went back adding more Pumpkin Pie if needed.

4. Once the whole image was painted, I went over with a dry baby wipe to remove any colour which had gone onto the white embossed lines.

It's quite a lengthy process, but it is relaxing and enjoyable and I think the results are beautiful! In this next photo I experimented & used black card stock. I used exactly the same colours as the Chrysanthemum on kraft card.

Both look stunning, but I do prefer the kraft version better. It is on my to do list to experiment with other colours of card stock!

Along with the two floral cards I decided to use the technique on a one layer card using one of the doilies from Decorative Doilies - The Hands Of Time...

Again I started out by stamping the doily in VersaMark & embossing with white. I then applied the white wash. For the colours I kept it simple and I haven't done any blending...

I started with SU! Bermuda Bay which is a bright turquoise colour. I used a really fine watercolour brush to apply the colour to the spokes of the doily. I then used a retired SU! colour Baja Breeze which is a pale turquoise colour to fill in the other areas of the doily. Even with just applying flat watercolour a stunning result is achieved!

I hope that I have explained the technique to you all so that you can give it a try. If there is anything you are unsure of just leave me a comment to which I will reply or send me an email & I will reply by email.

Ok, that's all from me just now,  I will be back later to announce the WINNER of the March DT Blog Hope prize. Until then, thank you for stopping by :)

Not All Black & White

Hey!

I'm back today with a couple more cards to share that I made on Saturday at The Paperlane during the demo...

Yep, it's negative die cutting AGAIN with the soon to be released Designer Dies BRIGHT Butterflies! This time I used some muted DP behind the butterflies and was trying out some NEW Cosmic Shimmer EP on the celebrate sentiment...

This EP is pretty awesome & is super for picking up fine details. So I then went on to make this card...

I already had the 2 butterflies die cut from the card above & so stamped the coordinating butterfly with VersaMark ink and embossed them with the Cosmic Shimmer EP. I then stamped the black card base with one of the larger doilies from Decorative Doilies - The Hands Of Time in Fresh Snow ink. I used the same sentiment from FONTiments - Birthday as in the first card above but stamped it onto some Hibiscus Burst CS for that 'POP' of colour. The butterflies are adhered to the card using foam adhesive to add dimension...

I love how the embossing powder really shows off the flower detail on the butterflies wing! I treated myself to some NEW Cosmic Shimmer Silver Glitter whilst in the shop & I can't wait to try it out on a project or two.

I'm still resting up today but hope to get back in the studio this afternoon! Thanks for stopping by & for the comments you leave me. They are truly appreciated & make my day :)

The challenge code word is.... Embossing and so I decided to do some heat embossing on my cards...

On this first card I stamped the solid Gerbera flower from Uniko Studio Pure Florals: Gerbera with Smokey Shadow ink onto Basic Grey CS. I then stamped the Lattice design over the top using VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Crystal EP.

Just look at that sparkle...

For my second card I used the same CS but switched the stamps and EP to White Detail! I started out stamping & embossing the individual chevrons from Uniko Studio Wonderful Washi: Christmas. The label is heat embossed with white detail onto Soft Stone CS, cut out and mounted onto the card using foam adhesive.

All supplies are listed below! If you join in on the fun over at Addicted to CAS, you could win yourself some Uniko Studio goodies!

Christmas Krafting

Hey!

Happy Weekend! Today is the Uniko Studio demo day at The Paper Lane - YAY! I'm also teaching a class after the demo and prepared a few projects for the class to make...

This first project consisting of the card above and tag & bottle tag gift card holder below was inspired by DT Member Kerry's release day project HERE.

I loved the elegance of Kerry's project the kraft mixed with black and the Poinsettia so created this little ensemble! Being a CAS girl and that the class has limited time I skipped the Copic shading that Kerry has incorporated on her project!

My next project for the class continues the Kraft CS theme...

Another yummy seasonal colour combination and my love of turning those Decorative Doilies into snowflakes!

There is one more project I put together for the class, but will save that for another day to share with you. I'll be taking along my camera to capture the happenings of the day which I'll share with you all :)

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.

A Few Things...

Hey!

Wow, what a busy weekend and start to the week here in The Studio. It's been that busy I haven't had time to ink my stamps and make a card :(

So instead I thought I'd share a few cards I've spotted around blogland...

First up are these beauties from Deborah...

Pure Florals: Gerbera paired with Wonderful Washi in such calming pastel tones is simply stunning. I love how the longest Washi ribbon draws you down to the sentiment on the card.

How about some gold snowflakes?

Deborah used Decorative Doilies - The Hands of Time to create this wonderful Christmas card, such perfect embossing. Be sure to check out Deborah's blog HERE to see more stunning creations.

Next up is Sue...

This CAS Pure Florals: Gebera card is just perfect, the placement and colouring and the choice of sentiment is just lovely.

Sue has also been using the Super Free Saturday kit from September to make this Halloween card...

Be sure to pop over to Sue's blog HERE to see more lovely creations.

I've one more card to share with you today from Vicki...

Vicki has used this months Super FREE Saturday kit that was released on Saturday HERE and you can download it HERE. I LOVE that big red bauble paired with the chevrons, this card has certainly got me in the Christmas spirit. Be sure to pop by Vicki's blog HERE, she has many wonderful projects to admire.

So in other news, the NEXT Uniko Studio release is just around the corner and I can't wait to start sharing peeks with you all!

I am also doing a Uniko Studio demo at The Paper Lane in Northallerton on Saturday 1st December 11 - 2pm. I am also running a CAS Christmas card class after the demo, for more information and to sign up for the class visit The Paper Lane website HERE.

I think that's all for today, I do hope all those on the East Coast are safe and well, thinking of you all who are and have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

On Q with the Colour!

Happy Thursday!

I'm back today to share a card using this weeks ColourQ colours! I couldn't resist these Spring colours! It made me HAPPY considering the weather is more like Winter than Spring here!

Here's how I used the colours ...

As soon as I saw the colour combo I knew what I wanted to do! I'd popped over to The Paperlane on Tuesday and bought the leaf die which is a Poppystamps/Memory Box die.

So, I die cut the leaves from Pear Pizzaz then stamped all 3 graphic flowers onto Blushing Bride, Peach Parfait & So Saffron CS using Versamark & heat embossed them with Crystal EP. A simple brad holds them together & the flower is adhered to the care using foam pads.

The picture above shows how sparkly the Crystal EP is & also the texture of the white CS which has a linen texture. I also bought this from The Paperlane when I popped over the other day!

Thats all I have to share today, be sure to stop on by tomorrow!

Birthday Ensemble!

Hello There!

Well, it's a soggy Tuesday here in the North East of the UK, but I'm back today with another Spring coloured project to share.

Now I have created this project as it's 'A DAY TO CELEBRATE' it's The Paperlane's 2nd Birthday! The Paperlane is my local craft shop & I have spent many hours in there adding to my stash! LOL!

So, to celebrate the stores 2nd Birthday there is a Birthday Celebration Challenge over on The Paperlane blog HERE. The challenge is to either incorporate 2 sentiments onto your project or a cake with 2 candles. There is a FAB prize up for grabs a £15 gift certificate to spend! As I am part of the DT it's a shame I can't enter as I'd have that spent in no TIME!!

There are a few ways you can join in the challenge, first by popping over and linking up on the blog, email your entry to Caz at The Paperlane or pop in store with your creation!

I thought that the TIME set from Uniko Studio was rather fitting for the Birthday Celebration! Below is a close up of the card I made ...

As you can see I used the 2 sentiment rule of the challenge on my card. I used some lovely Spring colours suitable for a Spring Birthday! Pool Party & Calypso Coral! I Simply stamped the clock face alternating the colours & then repeated the process on another piece of CS and fussy cut out the inner part of the floral element! Then adhered them to the card using foam pads for a bit of dimension. A few rhinestones & I was done!

I couldn't stop there though I had to go on and make a matching Tag & Gift Box!

For the box I used a Sizzix XL die to cut it out & stamped the graphic flowers randomly in the 2 colours before adhering together. The focal point for both the Tag & Box are created by using the largest graphic flower from the TIME set and one of the clock faces from the set. I fussy cut the centre flower just as I did for the card. The 2 scrolls are a Memory Box die 'Scrollwork' and add the perfect frilly touch! Some bling added here & there finishes off for good measure!

Why not pop on over to The Paperlane Blog HERE and see what the other DT members have created for the challenge and join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be back tomorrow with another project to share! I'm finding it hard to contain my excitement as it's less than 12 days now till the next Uniko Studio release celebrations! WHOOP!!

Hugs!
