Merry Monday - Winter Foliage

Hello & Happy Monday!

Today I was inspired to create a card using the Stencil - Winter Foliage paired with some of the Winter Foliage clear stamps.

I started with the stencil and used a small blending brush from Waffle Flower (shader 0) to colour each of the different elements in the stencil design. I then cleaned my stencil and placed it back over, using Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste to add the beautiful sparkle.

I then embellished the card with a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks Christmas and the holly leaf & berry cluster from Winter Foliage, using the coordinating Designer Dies Winter Foliage to cut them out. Both the sentiment and holly cluster are adhered to the card using foam tape.

That's all from me today, it's back to sorting stock from being in Doncaster on Saturday and preparing lovely samples for the up coming release 😊 Plus all the things I feel I *need* to get done before school is out for summer after Thursday!

Merry Mid Century Modern Monday!

Hello & Happy Shiny New Week.

I thought I would kick off the week with a festive Mid Century Modern make. I've had this sparkly Mid Century Modern Squares background made for a while and it has just been sat waiting for the perfect addition.

Then on Saturday it came to me that I hadn't inked up Season Of Beauty for a while and that the layered poinsettias and foliage would look lovey against the dark sparkly background.

It's a little busier than my usual CAS style, but I think the sparkly background adds to the festive feel. What do you think?

I used Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel through the Stencil and I used Concord & 9th inks in Cranberry, Poppy, Honeysuckle, Evergreen & Wheat for the stamping. I kept the card sentiment free as I felt that would have been a bit much, instead I will stamp the sentiment inside the card.

It's a fun and busy week in the studio, lots of designing new products for 2023 and so many exciting things happening for Uniko next year too ;) That's all I can say for now!

I'll be back later this week.

Merry Monday & A Winner!

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and you were able to spend some time getting creative. I had planned to spend some time in the studio creating, but an old shoulder injury decided to surface and so I spent the weekend resting it instead.

Anyway, enough of my woes, I am here today all be it late 🙈 to announce the winner of the Sept/Oct 2021 Release Blog Hop & Giveaway. But before I get to that I do have a card to share...

Today I thought I would make a quick CAS card using some of the newest festive stamps at Uniko. I've been pretty much obsessed with the string of lights from Pattern Building Christmas Tree and today was no exception!

I used a sentiment from Christmas Sentiments and added my usual Nuvo Drops to the lights. I love the added dimension and sheen like a light bulb they give. I added some sparkly card I had in my off cuts box to add a mat layer and a little more interest to finish.

Okay, so how about that winner!

Thank you to everyone who hopped along, who commented along the way, to all those who supported on the social media platforms and for all the lovely orders too. Random number generator helped me pick the winner and the lucky comment is...

They say "small is beautiful" and those tags certainly are. I love the dark shading on the pointsetta

Congratulations!

Please send me your postal address in an email to bev@uniko.co.uk no later than 31st October 2021 to claim your prize.

Have a wonderful week.

Merry Monday - BA Inspiration

Good morning folks, Julie here with a little bit of BA Inspiration.

In keeping with my aim to create all my Christmas cards before the end of November, I'm back with some Merry and Bright Christmas inspiration for you.

For my inspiration, I used the latest challenge over at CAS Christmas, where their cue word this month is RAINBOW. Rather than use the larger stamps from our Christmas sets, I used some of the smaller ones and used them in unusual ways in a rainbow theme.

My first card uses the tiny tree from Christmas Pop and stamped it in a rainbow pattern following the line of my die cut snowdrift.

I first cut a snowdrift from some scrap card and traced a line in pencil as a guide for my stamping, then starting roughly in the center and working outwards, I added my rainbow of trees. After stamping the sentiment from Festive Sentiments onto the snowdrift, I glued it onto my card, as simple as that.

My second card is probably my favourite of the three. When I was teaching, many years ago, Rene Magritte was one of the artists that we used as inspiration, especially the paintings where he paints features of the face but without the actual face being there, such as Les Belles Relations and The Paysage de Baucis. The features are in the correct anatomical place so your brain fills in the gaps. This card is a little like that, this time it's Rudolf!

The antlers are from Background Builders:Vines, Winter Additions, the baubles are stamped with the small flower center from Wonderful Day and his nose is the flower center from Kindness Blooms. His eyes were drawn freehand with a black fine liner and his nose was made shiny by the addition of some Glossy Accents. A few hand drawn lines for the strings and the same sentiment from Festive Sentiments completes.

My final card was a little trickier to make and had a bit of a shaky start!

My first attempt ended up in the bin as I managed to get an inky splodge in the bottom corner after I had completed it, this is the second attempt, after an initial dry run on some scrap paper!
I doodled some lines in the rough shape of a tree in pencil before adding the bulbs from Background Builders Christmas 2018. Once the ink was dry, I drew over the pencil lines with a black fine liner then left it again to dry before rubbing away  the pencil lines and coloured the bulbs with my Zig watercolour markers. To give the bulbs more impact, I gave them a coat of Glossy Accents, the same sentiment completes.

Well that's about it from me for the moment. I hope I've inspired you to use those tiny stamps that sometimes get forgotten and to think outside the box when it comes to your cardmaking.

Keep safe out there.

Merry Monday!

Merry Monday!

With Christmas only weeks away, I thought it was time to begin a 'Merry Monday' feature where I share projects using Uniko Christmas products. The hardest part of any blog post, is deciding what product to use and where to find inspiration.

Anyway, when the post arrived this morning the decision was kinda made for me today. My copy of Creative Stamping magazine arrived and I am super happy to share a peek of a product feature I am honoured to have in this issue.

The product I decided to focus on for the feature was one I didn't show enough inky love to last Christmas, BIG & BOLD Merry...

This clear stamp set, though it be a mini £5 set can pack a punch and has lots of creative possibilities when you get creating with it.

Here is a peek at just two of the cards I made using this stamp set and only this stamp set. The one below is one of my favourites and though it was fairly time consuming, it is one I hope to replicate in other colour ways for one of my Christmas designs this year.

For more information and to look at my bonus card, head on over HERE. And to not be a cop-out for my first Merry Monday feature I made a new card using the set to share with you...

Another clean and simple design with some festive colours, fussy cutting and colourful Nuvo Drops! I think this card took about 20 mins or so and the longest part was the fussy cutting of the bold merry. Why oh why haven't I got dies for this set yet?!

I just love this Cherry colour of ink from The Stamp Market and it stamps beautifully too. And just look at the colourful Christmas lights accented with Nuvo Drops, a match made in heaven!

That's all I have to share today, I hope I have inspired you a little to get Merry this Monday and break out your Christmas supplies!

Thanks for stopping by.
