DT Inspiration - One year

Bonjour !

Izzy here. Today it's been just a year and a month since I joined the wonderful Uniko team. In fact I wanted to do this post a month ago but it was the day of the new release.

To celebrate this I revisited some products that I particularly love and that were released in this period of time.

I'm starting with my favourite one I think the Kindness Bloom combined with the Birthday Sentiments set.

I played with the smaller stamps of this set, inking them randomly in different colours all over the double card front. I stamped the bold birthday wished on a die cut scalloped white square. This was then foam mounted onto the double card.

On a separate white card stock I stamped the blooms and I fussy cut them. Then I foam mounted them on the scalloped square corner. To finish, I glued some jewels.

My next card uses the marvellous Bee Happy stamp paired with the Beautiful stamp set and the Stylised Floral stencil.

On a square white card stock I used the stencil with Twisted Citron Distress ink that I blended softly to make a gradient. Once done I cut a part of it and I matted the two parts onto a black double card in order to reveal a black stripe.

I stamped the adorable bees on a separate card stock, I coloured them with colour pencils and I fussy cut them. I assembled the Bee Happy and the Beautiful sentiments together in order to make one single sentiment. Finally I stamped the dotted spiral to give mouvement to the foam mounted bees.

For my third card I used the Doodle Flower stencil together with the BIG & BOLD Hugs stamp set.

As you know, Distress Oxide spread like butter and blend so beautifully together that it is a pleasure to play with them ! That's what I did with this lovely stencil on top of a square white card. Then I stamped and heat embossed in black the sentiment on a white card stock and I fussy cut it.

I love how the black bold sentiment pops up on top of it with the stitched scalloped frame.

The fourth card is in fact a twofer of the third card...

I've seen in different blogs how to use the Distress oxide inks left on a stencil after blending them through. I wanted to try and I LOVE the result.

They give a much softer look and the negative of the stencil. When I saw the result I immediately knew that I would combined it with the Sweet Baby stamp set.

I also used the Distress Oxide inks to stamp the bold sentiment and the adorable bear. I fussy cut them and foam mounted them on the card.

My final card today uses one of the gorgeous stamp from the Pure Florals collection, the Rose. I love to combine it with the Lattice stencil.

On the card base I used the Lattice stencil in Spun Sugar distress ink. Then on a separate white card stock I stamped the outlines of the rose and of the leaves. I then coloured them with Promarkers and I fussy cut them.

I die cut a stitched border that I matted onto the card base and I adhered the leaves and the rose on top  with glue dots. A lovely sentiment from the Flower Power #1 set is black stamped to finish the card.

And voilĂ  ! That's all for me today. As you can see, Uniko products all go pretty together, you can combine them in such different ways. There have been many other products during this period of 1 year that deserve your attention as well, so stay tuned, I'll be back soon ...

Thank you for stopping by and have a great crafting day !

TIME OUT Challenges - CASE with your own twist

Hey!

I'm back today with the 12th TIME OUT Challenge and this time it's a CASE challenge. The aim of this challenge is to use the designer inspiration card & CASE it adding your own twist.

This month we have a super duper talented paper crafting expert for you to CASE... Anita from My Papercraft World and this is the inspiration card...

And this is my take on the inspiration...

I was mainly inspired by the lattice design Anita has used and the colours which are my FAVE were a big influence on my card. I started out by heat embossing the 2 single outline lattice stamps from Background Builders: Lattice. I then used a selection of Prismacolor Pencils to colour them in and used the gamsol to blend the colours together.

This fortnight we have a lovely guest designer joining us, Shona, be sure to stop by Shona's blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team...

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations :) I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Introducing ... BIG & BOLD - Wish

Hey!

I'm so happy that you've stopped by the blog today as today I get to introduce the first new clear stamp set being released HERE at Uniko Studio on Monday 11th August 9am GMT. This is the little peek you got the other day in case you missed it...

How about a couple of projects showcasing this new little set...

For my first card I paired the largest sentiment in the set with one of the smaller ones and accented it with sparkly heat embossing & multicoloured stars from Label Love: Christmas.

For my second card I'm sharing today I thought I had better catch up on some Stretch Your Stamps 2 homework! I was inspired by Kristina for my card & the stamps in todays set along with Background Builders: Lattice worked perfectly...

I've never been good with watercolours, as I like to 'control' the medium I work with like you can with markers and pencils, but the technique Kristina showed in the class video lends itself to those who are not masters with watercolours!

Above is a close up of the wish, which I stamped & embossed in clear embossing powder, I kept adding clear embossing powder after each heat setting about 3 - 4 times to add a dome effect. I then fussy cut the word out!

Ok, that's all I have for you today, but how about some inspiration from the FABulous Design Team and our Guest Designers this month Sarah from Sazzle Dazzle Crafts & Sandie from London Days:

Ren-Yi (Summer Break)

Clean & Simple

Hey & Happy Monday!

I do hope your week has got off to a lovely start. Its been a beautiful day here in the NE of England and it's helped me feel energised to tick a few more jobs off the list!

I've took a little crafty break & come back into the studio to create this clean & simple card...

I needed a little mojo boost so used a couple of challenges to spark the creativity. The first challenge is the current Crazy for CAS sketch seen HERE and below.

I was inspired to dust off a few sets that hadn't seen daylight for a while on my card, Decorative Doilies - The Hands Of Time and Background Builders: Lattice and paired them with a sentiment from A Gift For You.

As I kept it Clean & Simple it fits perfectly into the soon to be ending Addicted to Stamps & More! challenge HERE. I added a few SU! sequins for a little sparkle to finish it off :)

I've been busy in the studio today preparing for the August Release & to make room & also to celebrate little Prince George's 1st Birthday there is a Summer Sale over on the website HERE. Why not grab yourself a bargain or treat yourself to a set on or wish list?!

That's all I have for you today, but I will be back tomorrow with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Lattice, Frames & Florals

Hey!

As I said yesterday I had some time to 'play' and made a few cards to share with you this week. Todays card uses a lovely combination of stamps, even if I do say so myself!

This is a mini 10.5 x 10.5 m card. I started by marking the centre with a faint pencil mark both vertically and horizontally in order to stamp the single lattice design all over the base card using grey ink. I started stamping them starting in the centre and working my way outwards in all directions. After rubbing out the pencil lines I coloured the centre lattice image.

I used my square dies to create a mini frame and accented it with a trio of ditsy florals from Background Builders: Vines and a couple of leaves from Natures Treasures I.

That's all for today, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share. Until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

They're BACK!

Hey! Happy Friday - YAY!

If you missed the newsletter or announcement on Facebook yesterday evening you might be happy to hear that there have been a few restocks over on the website. A few old FAVES including Background Builders: LatticePure Florals: Gerbera and BRIGHT Butterflies along with a NEW favourite Background Builders: Vines

I decided to ink up and combine a couple of the restocked sets for todays card...

Yep, it's Lattice & Vines! A great combo, even if I do say so myself! I used the current CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below for a starting point and reached for a few colours I wouldn't normally use.

Here is a close up of the detail...

Short & sweet again tonight, the June Release arrived in the studio today & I am itching to ink a couple of the sets up before an early night! Be sure to stop by the blog over the weekend as tomorrow it's The Saturday Show and on Sunday we have the May Design Team Blog Hop and we're revisiting a FAB set and there is a GIVEAWAY too :) Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today.

Refreshing...

Hey!

A bit late with today's post, sorry. I've had a blah day with first a trip to the car garage to get our car sorted and I've been suffering with back pain so have been resting up. After a much needed nap this afternoon I have come into the studio refreshed and made this refreshing card...

I love this colour and find it very refreshing. I used the current Freshly Made Sketch seen HERE and below for my card and kept it super CAS.

A couple of layered vellum butterflies adorned with bling keeps the freshness and finished the card off nicely.

So what have you got planned this weekend? Any crafting time scheduled in? If the answers YES then you might just want to pop back here tomorrow as Uniko Studio is having another Super FREE Saturday - Yay! It's been a while since I had a freebie download so I thought why not have one this Saturday.

Ok, that's all from me today, I'm off to relax in front of the TV and watch a film with my hunny - perfect!

Thanks for stopping by & hope to see you tomorrow!

Bokeh...

Happy Wednesday!

Nope, I haven't made up a new language with the title of my post, I'm jumping on the band wagon & trending here again on the blog today, this time having a go at the Bokeh trend that's been popping up in the paper crafting community.

The term Bokeh pronounce BOH-KE comes from the Japanese word boke, which means the blur or haze. Bokeh has been around & can be seen a lot in photography. By definition bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out of focus areas of an image. The way the lens renders out of focus points of light.
Source Wikipedia

Below are a couple of examples of bokeh in photography...

Ok, so now you know a bit more about bokeh, how does this relate to paper crafting, I hear you ask..? Well, obviously it's about translating the concept of the 'blur' or 'haze' into a project and this is my first interpretation...

I started this card out on a piece of scrap paper sketching out my layout before stamping onto my crisp white card base!

I then used the 3 solid individual stamps from Background Builders: Lattice, I  inked each of the stamps and stamped them off onto scrap paper before stamping onto the card two times before re-inking & repeating the process with each of the three colours. Stamping the ink off before stamping onto your card base creates a 'blurred' or 'hazed' type effect which is what we want!

Below is a close up of the detail...

Now comes the fussy stage of this card, the stamping, paper piecing & glittering of the 2 linear individual stamps contained in the set! Some are adhered to the card flat & some using foam adhesive for extra dimension & ease of layering.

This card has some serious sparkle in real life! I enjoyed having a go at this technique and will deco be revisiting it at some point!

I used the current The Play Date Cafe challenge colours again for my card seen HERE and below.

There's still time to join in on the Uniko Studio DT Blog Hop HERE & be in the chance of winning the featured set, be sure to comment by midnight tonight! (GMT Time). I'll announce the winner on the blog & FB on Friday!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ombre Lattice

Hey!

WOW! What a fabulous Design Team blog hop yesterday, so many FABulous projects using the Background Builders: Lattice stamp, I really enjoyed it! Did you? If you missed the fun yesterday there is still time to join in on the fun HERE and win yourself the prize.

So for the month of March leading up to the next release here at Uniko Studio I gave the DT the task of revisiting the Background Builders: Lattice stamp so you'll be seeing this set popping up on projects throughout the month.

Today's card is one of those projects I've used it on...

Still keeping those green ink pads well & truly dusted off I decided to have a go at the Ombre trend that is still going strong. I started out by stamping the darkest green at the bottom of my card & working my way up to the lightest.

I even tried to achieve the ombre effect on the label...

I did this by inking the label stamp first with the lightest ink then the middle green moving the ink pad lower down the stamp and then with the darkest green just touching the lower edge of the stamp. I'm pleased how it turned out.

The perfect ombre green birthday card for a St Patricks Day baby! Moxie FAB World have an Ombre challenge HERE on their blog and The Pink Elephant HERE have a 'Green' challenge, so my card fits perfectly into both of those challenges!

Two challenges defo worth having a go at! Don't forget to join in on the Uniko Studio March DT Blog Hop HERE & be in the chance of winning the set, all you have to do is comment along the way!

That's all from me today, thanks for stopping by!

March Design Team Blog Hop!

Hey!

Happy Monday! I'm SO glad you've stopped by the blog today as we've a Design Team Blog Hop for you to enjoy. So grab a drink, get comfy and enjoy!

This month here at Uniko Studio we are having a fresh look at the previously released Background Builders: Lattice. This set was released last year back in April HERE. Lattice was all the rage then in design & paper crafts and it can still be seen around the paper crafting community. It's defo a set to have  in your stamping stash!

Here's a look at the set...

In the set you get 4 building strips and 5 individual  stamps to create many a background or even a focal point using the individual stamps.

I have a few of my FAVE older projects to share with you first...

And now for a couple of NEW cards...

This first card uses the single solid lattice strip. I've stamped it on the diagonal alternating the colours for added interest and added a sentiment is from FONTiments - Birthday. I added some bling & some bakers twine to finish it off & I was done in less than 10 minutes! The card is a one layer card making it perfect for mailing!

I used the current The Play Date Cafe challenge colours seen HERE and below for my card. It's a FAB colour combo for the lovers of BRIGHT colours!

For my next card I decided to use some of the Modern Lattice Digital Paper Collection scraps I have in my box. This digital paper collection was released at the same time as the clear stamp set & works perfectly along side or on it's own on a project. You can see an example of this above on the 2nd card.

Here's the collection...

And here's a new card using one of the papers...

Again, I cut the paper on the diagonal for added interest. I used the Best Wishes sentiment from Label Love: Birthday stamping it onto a banner die cut. I then used the largest of the individual lattice stamps paper piecing it & adding  button to finish things off. Another simple card to whip up in 10 minutes!

Ok, so that's enough from me let's get to the hop! Your next stop from here is Aimes, if you find a broken link or get lost along the way the order of the hop can be found below...

Be sure to comment along the way for your chance to win Background Builders: Lattice & the Modern Lattice Digital Patterned Paper Collection. For those who already own these you can still join in on the hop & commenting. An alternative prize to the same value will be awarded to you! You have a total of 8 chances to win if you comment on all the DT blogs! You have until midnight Wednesday GMT to get your comments in!

Don't forget today is the last day to take advantage of the FREE Worldwide Shipping!

Enjoy & thank you for hopping along with us today!
